When I got home from work (yep I had to get up early on Christmas Day and go to work) Dad had made CHOCOLATE GRAVY AND BISCUITS!!!! Yes I am aware that this sounds gross to those of you who have not had it before, but take my word for it, it is WONDERFUL!!!

After breakfast we opened gifts (AGHHHHH! I got some wonderful stuff:) and then started to make lunch....are you ready for this loooong list of food...

Sweet and Sour Chicken....Sweet and Sour Shrimp....Sweet and Sour Sauce....Mongolian Beef.....Fried Rice....Crab Wantons...Sweet Potatoes Pie....and then a million kinds of cookies that we baked the first part of the week

Oh Crabbs!

*SIGH* Well my bloggie friend, I have to say it has been a roller coaster of a weekend. Let me spare you the gory details and jump right in to the best part of the weekend.... THE CRABB CONCERT!!! No it is not a bunch of pincher snapping creatures kidnapped from the windy beaches or wet oceans (or seas) and programed to play some tiny instruments...I am talking about THE Crabb family... I did not know that I was joining the family on a trek to the land of Broken Arrow (way different country or so it felt with a 32oz drink sloshing around inside me:) until Saturday after I got off of work. SO glad I went! Here a some pictures of the night....

Sorry the quality of the picture is not that great we were sitting in a bad spot for pictures
The concert was in a very nice church.....both nice building and people

The Crabbs...there are four of them two ladies and two men
The piano player.....anyone but me notice that he has no socks on? Drove me crazy!! Pet peeve #2 nice shoes with no socks on guys..... gag me

Singing the Twelve Days of Christmas....this was hilarious!

Take a look at the name on the back of this guys jacket.....Can you imagine being a kindergarten kid and trying to spell this on all your papers? I mean look at that FOURTEEN letters long...
.

It is a good thing my last name (for the time being) is Ford...four letters...easy to spell

Serious Questions......

I am not sure how many of you pay attention to the 'funny things to ponder' gadget on the side bar of my blog, but if you don't mind, allow me to point it out to you. Some of them are great things to ponder and can entertain you during long waits in the airport, when you are alone with nothing to do, or while your mom is waxing elegant on the finer points of ___________(you fill in the blank with your moms favorite lecture :). Not that I am suggesting that you tune your mom out or anything like that.......just not my style.
For the fun of it, here are a few of them to start out with.....
Why do we say "heads up" when we want some one to duck their head?
If there were a crumb on the table and you cut it in half, would you have two crumbs or two halves of a crumbs?
American mothers feed their babies with tiny spoons and forks right? Well what to Oriental mothers use...toothpicks? (not intended to offend)
Whose cruel idea was it for the word "lisp" to have a 'S' in it?
You know the guys that wear the pants that are calf length...are the pants considered shorts that are too long or pants that are too short??
Why in the world isn't phonetic spelled the way it sounds?
If a cow laughed really hard would milk come out of its nose?
I must caution you though if you are like me don't try to think about more than one of these at a time.....the smoke alarm might go off....

FREEDOM!!!!

My apologies, dear blog, for neglecting our correspondence. You see the trials and tribulations of life have been dogging my heels and I have just now been able to escape. I am glad to report that I have triumphed over the evils of this semester and all that is left to do is swing my sward one final time to decapitate its deplorable head :) After tomorrow I can shed the chains of writing papers and giving speeches and be a free person again. YEHAW!!!! (sorry but that is really exciting to me:)

Coming up this week is the Christmas Banquet....so stay tuned for lots of pictures

Multitasking

Whooooooooh! Life has been a whirl wind of insanity! FUn TiMeS....Let me seeeeee...Michelle and Carlos flew in on Friday and Steve Taunton and family got here Sunday so we were able to spend time with family that we don't see very often. Let me tell you, y'all think I am insane, you should meet my mom's side of the family! We got along with them GREAT!

Sunday, Dad, Mom, Dana, Michelle, Carlos, and I went to see WICKED. It was incredible I think every one should see it at least once. You know how they say there is two sides to every story? Well WICKED is the other side of The Wizard of OZ and in my oh so humble opion it is better by far.

Unfortunately I did not have my camera so any pictures that I get will have to come later.

Now that Thanksgiving is over it is time to start gearing up for Christmas. YEHAW!!!! This year we will have a Christmas Tree and I think I am just excited about that as anything else :)

I only have three more class periods before this semester is OvEr THANK YOU JESUS!!! A speech on Wednesday, and final exams on Monday and Wednesday is all I have to endure till freedom.....for a couple of weeks anyway.

Sorry I don't have anything really exciting to write about but maybe next time.....

Money Spent, an Art Project, and an old Addiction :P

Here, my friends, is proof that patience does pay off. I found this awesomely cool pair of boots last year that I wanted really bad....the only problem....they were $80. Now for those of you who have never been shopping with me, let me tell you a little secret...I am a tight wad. I do not like to spend a lot of money on anything I buy. This is where the patience comes in....I put off buying the boots because I did not want to pay that much for them. BUT guess what......... this year they are on SALE!!! SO I bought them :)

WAY CUTE!!!

While mom and I were in the store she looked down at the shoes I had on and shook her head "Brookie" she said "those shoes you have on are pitiful. They need to be burned". I looked down and felt bad for my poor shoes. I could not believe some one would say something so hurtful right in front of them. "But mom they are the best pair of shoes I have....I mean for three years they have served me well. They have been through the washing machine, fall festivals, and mud puddles and you can still tell that they are supposed to be white!" Mom gave me a look that said my shoes days were numbered and said "Lets go see what is on the sale rack"(see where I get my tight waddedness from?:) Any way... point of the story....I found a replacement for my white shoes!!!!

Okay so maybe I need some new laces for them but they are awesome! Now my shoes can Retire in peace knowing that a younger pair of shoes is taking their place.

Whoo... this is turning out to be a lot longer than I expected! But on we plunge. My newest art project...scrap tiles (I don't know the real name for it but that works for me). Basically it is a scrap book page on a tile. I made this one for a Christmas present for a family member :) (I hope Nana does not read this :)

Now I am going to say adios and indulge my self in some therapy :P

YEP it is king size :P

Guess What!????!!!!

Only 52 more days till CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!

Ok so I LOVE Winter and Christmas.

The fall and winter season is the best time of the year, in my oh so humble opinion :) The only problem is it is totally a couple season :( Other than that I love the crisp cool mornings and the crunch of leaves under foot. There is nothing better than bundling up to sit around the house (or to go out side) and being able to see your breath in front of you.

I cant believe it is time to start Christmas shopping....got to get busy cause I have many people to buy for this year. My family started a new tradition a few years back and I love it. Each person buys at least two stocking stuffers for the others in the family, that means each person gets at least eight wrapped gifts in their stocking.(Some people get more cause the ones doing the buying forget that they already have something for the person and buy something else:) Love when this happens :) This year Tyler is getting some car air fresheners that I forgot to give him last year. It is fun to invent ways to wrap things so the person can not guess what is in the package (like wrapping a comic book like a giant candy). Then on top of that we get the other things that don't fit in a stocking. And best of all I live the SNOW!!!

(as long as I don't have to drive in it)

If you and your family have any Christmas traditions please feel free to share them with me....I love comments...in fact you will hurt my feelings if you don't comment :)

Fall Festival!!!!!!

Bonfires an' chili dowgs!!! Did we ever have a good time at the annual Fall Festival! Unfortunately I arrived a hour late so I missed some of the festivities but I was there for the Three legged race, the eating, seed sucking contest, and the hay ride. Here are some pics from the night.

Jeron and Tyler looking good in their hats
I say Tyler looks good but he really looks kinda like a sour pickle (grump:)
Okay so the story behind this picture is this..... last year I wore the green hoodie to the fall festival. On the way home I was sitting in the back of the van by the window beside Marissa. We were all talking and goofing off, being a bunch of girls, when all the sudden I noticed that Marissa was looking sick....she kept kinda letting her head roll around like she could not control it, but when we asked, she said she was fine. To make a long story shorter, she ended up throwing up all over me and the seat. I will give her credit, she did try to aim over the back seat. So any way we had nothing in the van for her to wipe her face on so I took my hoodie off and let her wipe up with it.
We had to get a picture this year with my puke hoodie....cant say I wont give a friend the shirt off my back :)

Dont really know why the picture but it is a cute one

Miss Kristen and I. Loved her hat!

Bro and Sis Waldrep on the hay ride (oh and Jonathan :)

Like My Soup

Funny moment of the day......

Today I made potato chowder for dinner and I guess I made it different than mom does. We (mom, dad, Tyler and I) were sitting at the table and Tyler said "This is good....but it is not thick enough for me."

Welllllll...excuse me! My bad for not making it to his likings:) I guess I looked at him kinda funny cause he gave me this cheesy grin and said,

"I like my potato chowder like I like my women....white an thick"
That is my brother for you :) Life is never boring around him.

With the exception of Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday my weekend was nothing but one big head ache, but instead of boring you with the details here are some good things to know while living life....
What do you call 10 rabbits walking backwards?
A receding hare line :))
Why is Tiger so dirty?
Because he plays with pooh
HA! I love lame jokes! Sorry I cant find any more that are post-worthy...

Just sayin'

Hello, my name is Brooke and I have a pet peeve.
Let me start from the beginning.
Couple days ago I finally met a co-workers boyfriend. I have spent the last several months listening to stories about this guy and had built an image of him in my mind. Let me tell you I was MAJORLY disappointed! Typically I can just readjust my image and move on, but that is not the only thing that happened. OK so I meet this guy and was like WOW he is totally not what I was expecting but, hey, give him a chance. So I rearranged my face and pasted on a smile and said, Hey it is nice to finally meet you! and I did what everyone does when some one sticks their hand out to you when meeting for the first time....I shook his hand. Well, I TRYED to shake his hand. It was like shaking a limp piece of lettuce.....I HATE IT WHEN A GUY DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO SHAKE HANDS!! I am not one to just go around shaking every guys hand that I see, but when I do shake hands with a guy I hate to get a limp hand shake. Bad handshakes shouts a lack of confidence and credibility. Its like come on be a guy and shake hands. Don't get me wrong, I don't want my hand broken in three different places but please get a grip, literally!
Thanks for letting me get that off of my chest! I feel much better now ;)
Until I find something better to post....Later

A Post of Pictures

I have not posted any pictures in a while so I thought I would throw some up here for ya'll to see.

This is Carter D. He has found his thumb again :)
Carter has also found his voice and he loves to use it!

Meet Sundance. If you look closely you can see the bowl of water under his chin. I brought him and Valentino over to our place so we could play with them for a while. The boys(dogs) loved it! Valentino might be a tad overweight (we are working on this:) but he can out play Sundance every time.

Sundance and Valentino, Dance almost always has a toy or two in his mouth. He cracks me up when he picks up two because it is like he can not make up his mind which one he wants. "Sooo do I want this one or this one....Maybe just this one....No, this one....BUt this one is round and this one is soft....do I want round or soft....round or soft.....Oh never mind I will take both!"

I never could resist a guy with a crocked grin ;)
